Dana White and the UFC handed out $65,000 bonus checks for performances Saturday night for “UFC 113: Machida vs. Shogun II”. Fighters that took home the bonus checks were Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, Alan Belcher, Jeremy Stephens, and Sam Stout.
Knockout of the Night honors went to the new UFC light-heavyweight champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua for his stunning knockout of former champion Lyoto Machida.
After losing a tough decision to Machida at UFC 104, Rua came out very aggressive and overwhelmed the former champion. Rua caught Machida with an overhand right to the side of the head that sent Machida to the ground. Rua immediately pounced and finished the fight, leaving Machida on the canvas unconscious.
Submission of the Night bonus money went to Alan Belcher for his rear naked choke victory over the returning Patrick Cote. Belcher was able to slam Cote to the ground, and he took his back where he was able to lock in the choke and pick up the victory.
Fight of the Night honors went to Jeremy Stephens and Sam Stout for their lightweight bout. The two combatants stood toe-to-toe for three rounds and traded shots. Stephens landed more power shots, but Stout kept pushing the pace and moving forward. Stephens won the split decision victory.
In total, $260,000 in bonus money was handed out to fighters for UFC 113.
