Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos finally has an opponent for her title defense next month in Los Angeles. Santos will face Jan Finney in the Strikeforce co-main event of the evening on June 26. The show will feature a main event pitting Fedor Emelianenko against Fabricio Werdum.
Santos had previously been scheduled to fight on the event without having an opponent named. The card will featured the number one male and female fighters in the world fighting on the card.
Jan Finney (8-7) will make her Strikeforce debut in the match. Although she got off to a slow start to her career, Finney has won her last four fights. She’s no stranger to tough competition. Early in her career she faced such female stars as Shayna Baszler, Miesha Tate, and Erin Toughill.
Finney picked up the biggest win of her career in her most recent fight when she beat Adrienna Jenkins via split decision in March at a Freestyle Cage Fighting event.
Santos (9-1) will defend her title for the second time since winning the vacant belt against Gina Carano last August. Her first title defense came in January with a win over Marloes Coenen at Strikeforce: Miami. Santos has won nine consecutive fights.
