DREAM had originally scheduled an eight-man, light-heavyweight tournament that was to take place on the DREAM.14 card on May 29. The tournament will still take place, albeit at a later date and with fewer fighters.
DREAM.15 will now host the 205-pound tournament, but it will now be a four-man event instead of eight. The event will take place July 19 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. News of the re-scheduled tournament was first announced on Sherdog.com.
Gegard Mousasi, the former Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion, was originally scheduled for the tournament will still be apart of the new format according to DREAM officials. Current champion King Mo Lawal had shown an interest in participating in the tournament, but he has not been confirmed for the event at this time.
In addition to the light-heavyweight tournament, a lightweight bout between rivals Shinya Aoki and Tatsuya Kawajiri will take place. Also, Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem is confirmed for the card as well, although no opponent has been named at this time.
