The Ultimate Fighting Championship will hold a press conference on May 25 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, where the company says it will make a “major announcement.”
UFC president Dana White and chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta will be in attendance at the event, which was announced Thursday and will include a question and answer session with the media.
White, who has often referred to Canada as the “mecca” for MMA, has also recently expressed interest in holding a Canadian version of its popular reality series The Ultimate Fighter.
White has been hoping to secure an event in Toronto for a couple years now, and he thought he could get it done in 2010. However, until the Ontario Athletic Commission lifts its ban on cagefighting, no such event can take place.
There is already a rally scheduled this Saturday afternoon at Queen’s Park, the site of the Legislative Assembly, in Toronto title “MMA Day”.
