Gary Shaw, former head of Elite XC, recently voiced his displeasure with Dana White and the UFC for their release of Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson. Slice was released after his UFC 113 loss to Matt Mitrione. Shaw says Dana White did a poor job matching up Slice with other fighters, and the company would have been best served by building Slice up against stand-up fighters towards a future match with former boxer James Toney.
Shaw calls Slice a draw wherever he fights, and he wouldn’t mind doing business with him in the future, particularly inside a boxing ring. Would Kimbo be better suited for boxing than MMA? It’s hard to imagine him fighting for eight, ten, or twelve rounds when he would gas out after only a couple rounds inside the Octagon.
