Amarillo, TX. – July 21, 2010 –Texas based mixed martial arts fight promotion company, Shark Fight Promotions, announced today that Rameau Thierry “The African Assassin” Sokoudjou will face Houston “The Assassin” Alexander in the co-main event at Shark Fights 13. Shark Fights 13 will take place Saturday, September 11, at the Amarillo Civic Center in Amarillo, Texas.
According to Brent Medley, president of Shark Fight Promotions, “We are very excited to have Sokoudjou vs. Houston Alexander as our co-main event on the Shark Fights 13 card. Both fighters have impressive knockouts on their records and have thrown down with a long list of tough, notable opponents. This will be no different. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou (9-6) recently defeated Joaquim Ferreira in the first round via TKO at Impact FC 1 – The Uprising: Brisbane, claiming his second consecutive win in 2010. Sokoudjou has fought for many of the top fight organizations in the industry such as Japan’s PRIDE Fighting Championships, UFC, Affliction, Strikeforce, and DREAM. He has also defeated numerous top-notch fighters throughout his career including Kazuhiro Nakamura and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. At his PRIDE debut, Sokoudjou shocked MMA fans across the nation by defeating top middleweight contender Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in the first round, via KO. The bout lasted a mere 23 seconds. This was a defining fight in Sokoudjou’s career and a fight that stands out in MMA history, due to the fact that Sokoudjou was a 16-1 underdog.

Houston Alexander (22-6-1), who recently defeated David Griffin via unanimous decision at UFA 1 – Clash at the Coliseum, is best known for fighting in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He also appeared on Spike TV’s ” The Ultimate Fighter – Heavyweights” in 2009. Alexander secured his most notable victory during his UFC debut, by defeating Keith Jardine via TKO, 49 seconds into the first round. Jardine, also a contender on the Shark Fight 13 card, immediately bounced back by defeating UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell at UFC 76.
