On Saturday, via his Twitter account, UFC middleweight contender Vitor Belfort issued a challenge to professional boxer and recent MMA participant James Toney.
“Dana let me fight James Toney in 6 round boxe Mach I think I can catch him with my speed.” [link]
James Toney, who lost his first ever MMA match on August 28th to Randy Couture was quick to defend his honor and did so through FightHype.com
“Tell Vitor Belfort let’s make it happen. I like that because he ain’t no scared little bitch. He wants to come to my world and I’m more than willing to welcome him into my world.”
UFC President Dana White has yet to respond though it is highly unlikely that he would OK such a fight. He stated after UFC 118 “we won’t be doing any more boxing” and it is safe to assume that that goes for boxers partaking in MMA bouts and vice versa.
