Sherdog’s Greg Savage is reporting that California State Athletic Commission Executive Officer George Dodd told him that Chael Sonnen tested positive in his post-fight drugs test at UFC 117. Dodd had previously commented that all fighters had passed tests for “drugs of abuse” but there was outstanding issues with performance enhancing drugs, which would make it clear that Sonnen tested positive for a PED. At the moment the substance in question is not known. Dodd told Savage that Sonnen had been informed on Friday and various media outlets have failed to contact the fighter. This would seem to put an end to the UFC’s plans to have Chael Sonnen once again challenge Anderson Silva for the World Middleweight Title in an immediate rematch, with Sonnen looking at a year-long suspension.
