Rocktagon MMA Combines Rock and Mixed Martial Arts Action on January 29 with
“Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series 2” Featuring the Rock Band Jackie
Elyria OH. January 14, 2011 – Ohio based mixed martial arts fight promotion Rocktagon MMA will combine rock and MMA fight action on January 29th in Elyria, Ohio during “Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series 2.” “Jackie” a popular Cleveland based rock band will perform for fight fans before Rocktagon MMA kicks off an exciting night of mixed martial arts action. “Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series 2” features a card stacked with some of the East Coast’s top Amateur MMA contenders. The event will take place on Saturday, January 29th at Midway Mall in Elyria, Ohio.
According to Lorenzo Gentile, president of Rocktagon MMA, “We are very excited to add a new element of live entertainment to select shows by way of live concert performances. On January 29th fight fans in Ohio are in for a treat. We will kick off the night with a special performance by the rock band “Jackie.” Immediately following the bands performance, Rocktagon MMA contenders will step into the cage. Fans can expect a full night of high quality entertainment from the live music to non-stop fight action.”
The main event of the night features a welterweight title bout between Rocktagon MMA veteran Dave Vandevelde and MMA rising-star Anthony Morgan. Dave Vandevelde (4-0) clinched his fourth straight win in November by defeating Kyle Booth via TKO at a mere 43 seconds in the first round. It took the aid of two men to help Booth make his way to the locker room after being pummeled by Vandevelde’s devastating strikes. Vandevelde, currently undefeated in his amateur fight career, is confident that he will add another notable win to his record and claim the Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series welterweight title.
His opponent Anthony Morgan (4-2) is a well-rounded fighter who is as skilled on the ground as he is on his feet. He is coming off of a first round submission victory over Jeremy Weinman and is determined to stop Vandevelde dead in his tracks. Morgan has his eye on the prize. He plans on handing Vandevelde his first career loss and raising his hand at the end of the night as Cage Stars Amateur Elite Series welterweight champion. Both fighters are hungry for the win, but only one can claim the title. Will it be Rocktagon MMA veteran Dave Vandevelde or MMA rising star Anthony Morgan? Fans will find out on January 29th!
