Tiffany “Time Bomb” Van Soest to Compete in MMA and Kickboxing
Signing Deals with Invicta FC and GLORY Respectively
NEW YORK – In a joint announcement today, female MMA promotion Invicta Fighting Championships and the world’s premier kickboxing league GLORY reported independent agreements with striking sensation Tiffany “Time Bomb” Van Soest to compete in the sports of mixed martial arts and kickboxing simultaneously.
Van Soest, who holds a 14-2-1 record in kickboxing and has yet to make her professional MMA debut, is a decorated muay-thai and Shorin-ryu karate practitioner, previously holding the WBC Muaythai International Super Bantamweight Championship, Lion Fight Promotions Super Bantamweight Championship, and Lion Fight Promotions Featherweight Championship.
“I am beyond thrilled to have this incredible opportunity to not only sign with one, but two of combat sports’ top organizations,” said Van Soest. “Striking has always been my passion and my official MMA debut has been greatly anticipated, so to be able to compete in both is a dream come true and I could not be happier.”
Kickboxing will be first on the docket for Van Soest, making her organizational debut at GLORY 30 SuperFight Series, which streams live on UFC FIGHT PASS on Saturday, May 13, taking on Jeri “Fists of Fury” Sitzes in a rematch of their muay thai bout in 2012.
“We’re extremely excited to bring Tiffany on board at GLORY. We are home to the best strikers in the world. Period, “said GLORY CEO Jon J Franklin. “Tiffany certainly fits that bill and this is a sign of things to come. She’s a multi-sport competitor and we love the idea of keeping her tools as sharp as possible.”
Van Soest’s professional MMA debut for Invicta FC has yet to be announced, but will likely take place this summer.
Invicta FC President Shannon Knapp added: “Tiffany is as good as they come in the muay thai world and now she’s testing herself as a complete martial artist against some of the top strawweights in MMA as well. What’s not to like? The fans win here.”
Both organizations, which have a live event presence on UFC FIGHT PASS, will be in the California area next month, beginning with two world titles up for grabs at Invicta FC 17 from The Hangar at OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa on Saturday, May 7.
