Two fights in the UFC usually
does not get you ranked in the
top ten of your weight class,
but Henry Cejudo is an excep-
tion, and for a good reason.
Before jumping up the UFC fly-
weight division rankings, Ce-
judo had a unique life.
Cejudo is one of the greatest
wrestlers in United States his-
tory and his decision to skip
college at the time, and in-
stead, wrestle for the United
States of America highlights
that. Henry is currently attend-
ing Grand Canyon University
and plans on going to Grad
School. He won four state
championships in high school
and was named the ASICS
National High School Wrestler
of the Year in 2006. Then, at
21 years old, Cejudo won the
gold medal in the 2008 Beijing
Olympic Games. He was the
youngest American wrestler to
ever win a gold medal.
Just like his wrestling career,
Cejudo wasted no time for
showing he was going to be
a dominant mixed martial art-
ist. Cejudo announced that
he would be training MMA in
January of 2013. By January
2014, Cejudo was already 6-0
in his professional career and
signed his UFC contract in July
of 2014.
On Dec. 13, 2014, Cejudo won
his UFC debut by unanimous
decision over Dustin Kimura
at the bantamweight division.
Cejudo dominated the fight
and showed he deserved some
better completion in the UFC.
Before his next fight, Cejudo
decided to cut down to fly-
weight from his original weight
class of bantamweight, and
this was a great decision.
His first fight in the bantam-
weight division and second
fight of his UFC career was a
big one, against Chris Cariaso,
who was ranked tenth in the
flyweight division.
There were a lot of questions
about Cejudo, but he answered
them, and answered them in
a big way. Cejudo dominated
the fight for all three rounds
and showed that he is no joke
in the bantamweight division.
Fresh off of his dominating vic-
tory over Chris Cariaso, Cejudo
showed that he is a legitimate
contender and that he deserves
some bigger fights.
Cejudo is already ranked tenth
in the division after only two
fights in the UFC and one fight
at the bantamweight weight
class.
Cejudo is the real deal and I
guarantee he will keep push-
ing forward and only getting
better. Look for him to make a
push for a top five spot by the
end of 2015 and maybe even
in a spot for a title shot.
