Luke Rockhold Predicts He Will Finish Chris
Weidman, Champion Laughs in Response
Article By: Christian Larusson
Sat. Dec, 12 on UFC 194, the
undisputed
Middleweight
Champion of the world, Chris
‘The All-American’ Weidman,
is facing who most people con-
sider his toughest test to date
since becoming UFC cham-
pion, number one contender
Luke Rockhold. Even though
they have admitted getting
along before, it seems like a
small psychological warfare
has come to the surface, and
the battle of the strongest self
confidence has begun.
Brett Okamoto, from ESPN.
com, asked Rockhold on ‘UFC
194: Aldo vs. McGregor Media
Conference Call’ to respond to
comments Weidman had made
to him. About that Chris say-
ing that he has faced tougher
competition than Luke.
“I fought some very very tough
guys in my time. Chris is just
about to find out, he’s got a lot
of holes in his game, and he’s
hasn’t fought anybody that
looks to exploit him, until now.
I’m not going to sit there and
coward down, and let him con-
trol the ring. I’m going to stop
him in the middle of the cage,
I’m..”
Chris interrupts him, “I Can’t
Wait! I can’t wait.”, Luke raises
his voice, trying to get back the
momentum. “..and then. AND
THEN!” I’ll finish him.” Chris
starts then laughing at Rock-
holds claims.
The Middleweight title fight is
happening on the same card
as the unifying feathweight
title fight between Conor Mc-
Gregor and Jose Aldo so there
is a strong possibility that their
fight will be overshadowed
by the massive public interest.
However, similar to UFC 189,
where the same concern was
raised when the welterweight
title was on the line as co-main
event when McGregor squared
off against Chad Mendes for
the interim title.
At the time the impact of Mc-
Gregor’s victory might have
drawn most of the attention,
but after the fireworks was
over, I don’t believe MMA fans
talked more about that con-
test than they did about than
the welterweight title fight be-
tween Robbie Lawler and Rory
MacDonald. During the bout
the now iconic staredown hap-
pened in the end of round 4,
and Lawler walking away vic-
tories by stoppage in round 5,
after a fantastic fight that is
considered by many to be the
greatest title fight in UFC his-
tory.
Will the same happen on Sat-
urday, December 12 on UFC
194 in Las Vegas, Nevada?
