It’s always exciting to root for an underdog.
From an empathetic perspective, it’s something
most people can relate to. Sometimes, in mma
there are matches made that almost don’t make
sense due to the perceived disparity between tal-
ent levels. Those moments can elevate a fighter
into the next level, and carry them to greatness.
It’s only in hindsight that most fans and odds
makers can look back and realize that a fight-
er had the skills and talent all along. Hype and
promotional marketing can lead you away from
rational analysis of the skills and stylistic match
ups, but on fight night all of that goes out the
window.
Once again, our writers Blane Ferguson, Jose
Youngs, and Michael Davis are going to put to-
gether their top five favorite fights that were
upsets that really weren’t upsets.
