24
athletes to compete. The larger
the venue and event, the better!
Well-run sanctioned shows that
provide a great experience for
fans in NYC’s largest venues re-
ally draw attention to the lack of
professional regulation and sanc-
tioning. Bringing in casual fans
that might not otherwise attend
an MMA event helps educate the
public about the sport and their
local athletes. It also creates more
pressure for our representatives
who are blocking this regulation-
we are trying to prove that MMA
shows are not something for the
public to fear, but something they
should embrace.
The athletes train hard and want
to test their skills. Many will com-
pete anyway, even if no blood
work or medical screening is
done. A fighter competing in an
unsanctioned event could expose
themselves to diseases passed
through blood (HIV, Hepatitis B
and C and others). Not allowing
it to be properly regulated is not
protecting athletes, but rather ex-
posing them to unnecessary risk.

your future plans for Victory

be hosting your next sanc-

New York?

We are actively working on
the schedule for 2015 and nego-
tiating with multiple venues. Vic-
tory will be back in early 2015 and
will announce several shows very
soon! For the long-term, we’re
having a lot of fun, so it is hard to
tell how far we’ll take this. We’ve
produced three events in Boston
