Delpopolo was shamed by friends, foes,
internet trolls and even strangers on the
street. Some of his fellow judokas even
began to spread false rumors about him,
adding salt to the wound. Despite all of
this, Delpopolo refused to let what hap-
pened in London define him. Instead, he
used the heartbreak and negativity that
he faced as motivation and continued to
chase his dream.
On June 1, 2016 Delpopolo officially
qualified for the Olympics for a second
time. He plans to make the 2016 Olym-
pic Games in Rio his story of redemption.
Scrapp! Fight Magazine recently caught
up with Nick and spoke to him about his
Olympic journey.
