the 2016 Olympics. He began
sponsoring me by helping me
pay my living and travel and
training expenses. If it weren’t
for him I wouldn’t have been
able to do this.
With his financial support I was
able to move my girlfriend and
I into a gated apartment com-
munity and focus on training
and going to school via online
classes. He helped me redis-
cover my faith and taught me
that all I could do was make
my experience a “teachable
moment”.
He flew me to Archbishop
Curley High school to teach
Judo to their Wrestling team
and to speak with the teens
about overcoming adversity,
and about not giving up even
if you have a bad experience.
