Bendo and the Toothpick
To quote Joe Rogan from his
‘Fight Companion Podcast’,
as he saw it live, when former
lightweight champion, Benson
Henderson defeated Brandon
Thatch. Henderson re-posi-
tioned his tongue and moved
the toothpick around in his
mouth for the UFC cameraman
to see it, “That’s some Charles
Bronson shit!”. This incident
was also after Henderson al-
ready got caught once in an
earlier fight doing it, and given
a stern warning from the UFC
brass.
That didn’t seem to bother
Henderson in the least. Let’s
see if he does it in Seoul, South
Korea, on November 28, when
he meets Jorge Masvidal in the
main event.
Josh Barnett loves
‘Magic: The Gathering’
To be the UFC heavyweight
champion of the world, you
are often considered, because
of your size, to be the ‘bad-
dest man on the planet’. This
perhaps might often be an ac-
ceptable statement, but what
strengthens that point for me
is if you have the cojones to
openly admit that you play a
card game that has for genera-
tions considered to be a game
for ‘Geeks’ and ‘Nerds’.
From a personal standpoint,
I know somewhere between
very little to nothing about the
game. However, after watch-
ing a Youtube clip with Barnett
playing the game with the host
of the program, ‘Spellsling-
ers’, Day9 (yep, that’s what
he is called), I have to admit, I
wouldn’t mind learning to play
that game. The host makes
an incredible job keeping the
viewer like myself interested.
Machida and that
Lemonade-looking drink
This has been a little known
fact in the MMA community
for a long time now, that Ma-
chida and his father pee in a
glass every morning after they
wake up, to then drink it. This
(family recipe) tradition has
been transferred to him from
his father, and he has been
quoted from ‘TATAME’ and lat-
er transcribed by MMAmania.
com, saying it’s “.. like a natu-
ral medicine”.
Georges St-Pierre
believes in UFOs
I know, I know. He is not cur-
rently on the UFC roster, but
with all the recent talk about
him coming back I put him on
this list anyway. Plus, this one
is so great, I just couldn’t help
myself.
If you are a fan of St-Pierre, and
I know many are, and haven’t
heard him explaining to Joe
Rogan on the ‘The Joe Rogan
Experience’ podcast, his belief
that he has been abducted by
something out of this world,
you are missing out. This will
make your head explode. This
is just one of my many favorite
conversation pieces from that.
GSP: “Sometimes when I
close my eyes, three hours has
passed.”
Rogan: “It’s called sleep
George.”
GSP: “I hope so.”
It’s a very interesting interview,
with so much to talk about. I
really recommend you watch it
if you haven’t.
Cerrone and the BMF
video blog.
You used to see many fight-
ers do their own video blogs
as their personal ‘Countdown’
to hype up their own fights a
while back. That has signifi-
cantly dialed down now, unfor-
tunately. Joe Lauzon still does
it when he has a fight coming
up, but someone who has tak-
en it to another level is “Cow-
boy” Cerrone.
‘Bad Mother F—– Ranch’ is
located on Cerrone’ property,
where he lives with other fight-
ers who strive to hit the premi-
um stage in MMA. You will find
him training for his upcoming
title fight with Rafael dos Anjos
on December 19, opening fan
letters, traveling around in his
humongous RV, hunting, and
so much more. It’s a great in-
side look at the wildman that is
Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone.
