If anyone in the world knows
how Rousey felt on Sunday
morning, it is this man.
Silva lost to Chris Weidman in an
astonishing upset at UFC 162,
which along with Rousey at UFC
193, goes down as one the big-
gest shocks in UFC history.
That experience puts “The Spi-
der” in a pretty good position
to give some philosophical ad-
vice.
In a post on Instagram he said:
“Our biggest glory doesn’t live
in the fact of never fall down,
but in the fact of we always
stand up after each fall.”
“With determination, You
will over come this bad time. I
know very well how it is. You
deserve the best of this world.”
“Hold this experience with in-
telligence and don’t blame
yourself. You had a big lesson
of this sport. With class you
will transform this happiness in
something better to your per-
sonal and professional life, be-
cause the world was made for
people like you, a winner.”
“With determination you will
overcome everything that is
happening to you. This time
not quite know how. You are
a great athlete and transcends
the world of MMA, my kids
love you. So do not forget, fall
serves to stand up stronger and
wiser. You deserve all the best.
Nobody is unbeatable, we all
have losses and they serve to
strengthen us.”
“Anyway, I wish you peace and
patience. You had one of the
greatest lessons in the sport.
The world belongs to those
who dare to do what you did
for a long time, win and win
pretty. Raise the head girl, she
is a great champion of life and
an inspiration to many around
the world. Do not forget, we
love you.”
You would expect nothing less
from one the very greatest and
after reading this nine or ten
times Rousey may be able to
glean some understanding.
The new “baddest woman
on the planet” has jumped in
Rousey’s corner despite being
on the end of a foul mouthed,
unprovoked rant from her less
than a week ago.
The ever classy Holm acknowl-
edged the fact that Rousey had
come in for a heap of criticism
after the fight but does not
necessarily think she deserves
it.
Speaking to TMZ she said, “I
think people can be pretty bru-
tal.”
“And when you’re in the spot
she’s in, there are people that
are just going to jump ship,
and I don’t ever wish for that.”
The new champ also recog-
nized that if it weren’t for
Rousey then she herself would
not be in this position.
“Ronda’s been a very dominant
champ and she’s taken the
sport to new levels. This fight
wouldn’t have happened if
she hadn’t accomplished what
she’s accomplished, so I have a
lot of respect for her.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I don’t
want to give away any bit of
my victory, so I’ll take it. I’ll take
the win and I’ll take that I took
it dominantly. That doesn’t
mean that I wish any harm on
her. That doesn’t mean that I
wish any hate on her.”
At a time when most are rub-
bing salt in to the wounds,
it is nice to see a handful of
high-profile figures show a bit
of compassion for one of the
greatest fighters of a genera-
tion.
