A CHAMPION UNDER THE RADAR

Every professional fighter steps
into the cage with one ultimate
goal in mind: winning a world
title. World Series of Fighting
champ David Branch reached
that goal in June 2014, securing
the promotion’s inaugural mid-
dleweight championship.
Fifteen months later, he did the
unthinkable, adding a second
belt to his trophy case by claim-
ing World Series of Fighting’s
light heavyweight title, as well.
“What David Branch has accom-
plished in the World Series of
Fighting decagon is truly remark-
able,” World Series of Fighting
President Ray Sefo said. “The
type of dedication and sacrifice it
takes to become a world cham-
pion is something most people
will never truly understand. But
to be able to hold two different
titles simultaneously is almost
unheard of in mixed martial
arts.”
Indeed, before Branch, only
MMA legend Dan Henderson
could boast of such an accom-
plishment while competing for
a major organization, simultane-
ously holding a pair of belts un-
der the PRIDE banner, a now-de-
funct Japanese promotion that
once housed many of the sport’s
top athletes.
