If you have been in and
around the MMA scene for the
last 6 years, you have heard of
the one they call “Mikey Ru-
kus”. The musician, who set
out on a journey in late 2010
to create customized walkout
music for fighters and custom
theme music for MMA compa-
nies and organizations, would
single handedly carve a niche
within the sport of mixed mar-
tial arts. Although many have
tried to imitate his success,
none have been able to repli-
cate it. His humble beginnings
were that of making entrance
music for ammy and pro fight-
ers on the regional circuits.
It’s a bit of a paradox
to say Rukus started small,
because he truly started big.
While reaching out to fighters
and upstart companies that
were just barely getting on the
map, he was doing so on an in-
ternational basis. Fast forward
six years later, Mikey Rukus has
created over 400 theme songs,
walkout songs, event and
show introductions for fighters
and companies in 20 different
countries. He has created mu-
sic for some of the UFC’s top
stars such as “The Super Sa-
moan” Mark Hunt, Cub Swan-
son, TUF: Nations winner Chad
Laprise and so many others. He
has written theme music for or-
ganizations such as Invicta FC,
Hard Knocks Fighting Cham-
pionship, Legacy FC and Cage
Warriors FC to name a few. His
walkout song for UFC vet Colin
“Freakshow” Fletcher in 2013
was voted by Fansided as one
of the top 20 Greatest Walkout
Songs Of All Time. He has also
written music for major boxing
organizations such as Mexico’s
WBC and World Series Of Box-
ing. He has collaborated with
Feld Motor Sports’ Monster
Jam for event theme music for
some of their monster trucks,
