World Series of Fighting
22 to shoot scenes for
the new show intro to go
along with Bring It On, and
to perform a set before
the Main Card. It was ex-
citing, I play big shows all
the time, but the opportu-
nity to shoot a video and
showcase on TV doesn’t
happen regularly in the DJ
scene. We’re sitting in the
hotel, I think it was Plan-
et Hollywood, with Mikey
(Rukus) and Joe (Simmons)
the V.P. Of Rocktagon
Worldwide Music getting
ready for the show and
all that. Mikey was scroll-
ing through his phone and
starts laughing, saying ‘So
I guess the UFC just an-
nounced they’re switch-
ing to an electronic remix
of Face The Pain. Wonder
where they got that idea
from?’ I was almost wor-
ried, but then we listened
to it, and I’ll just leave it at
that. All in all the whole
experience was fun, it
was a great show. We
ended up watching Nate
and Nick Diaz go at it in
the crowd with some of
the WSOF fighters camp,
which was pretty unethi-
cal if you ask me. To top it
off they trashed the hotel
bar right after going at it
again. There shouldn’t be
any tolerance in the sport
for behavior like that, but I
still hope he kicks Connors
(McGregor) loud-mouth
ass.”
Whether the World Se-
ries of Fighting use of the
track inadvertently raised
the standard for ancillary
entertainment could be
a matter of opinion. You
could also say the WSOF
utilizing the Rocktagon
Worldwide Music Net-
work, with custom curat-
ed catalogs of music that
fit Combat Sports like a
glove, raises the bar even
further is a matter of opin-
ion. But with the UFC fol-
lowing suit with their own
version of an electronic re-
mix of their theme song
edifies that to a degree.
If you’ve any paid
attention to Bella-
tor shows, there
are more and
more electronic
tracks integrat-
ed into the live
shows. Not
to mention
the attempt
at Bellator
149 to in-
corporate
live mu-
sic dur-
ing Ken
Shamrocks
walk-out.
Those are facts. No mat-
ter what, with the “Big
Three” dominating the
sport in the United States,
we can only wait and see
what direction they all go
in.
