result was nothing short of bad
ass. I could honestly end the re-
view there. I could almost feel
okay with telling you, “This al-
bum is killer, go buy it” but I
won’t.
I loaded up the album and was
instantly pulled into it by the
ominous intro to “Your Silence”
there was just something about
it that promised good things to
come. This promise was kept
over and over again through-
out the album. If I had to use
one word to describe this al-
bum and I could not use phras-
es like “bad ass” or “great” I
would have to say that this al-
bum is dynamic. It’s dark but
it’s crisp and accessible; the
clean vocals are almost beauti-
ful whereas the growls are just
guttural enough to tickle my
fancy; there are deconstructed,
simple, straightforward riffs
and a couple really great guitar
solos. So yeah, it has just about
everything I could want out of
an album right now.
It was not easy to pick a fa-
vorite track off this album, in
fact I couldn’t do it. The big
single off the album right now
is “The Unscene” which has a
really great video (it’s on You-
Tube go look it up) and the
track is great but my favorites
off the album are “The Artist’s
Life” and “Asfixiate”. Like I’ve
said, though the whole album
is great. Haster have mastered
the art of building up a song,
taking a short breath, then
continuing the previous inten-
sity. I really can’t say enough
good things about this one.
I was able to ask David Hei-
da, lead guitarist, a couple of
questions about their sound
and writing process and here’s
what he had to say:
Yeti
- This album is crazy dy-
namic. I can hear all those
different influences melding
together to make this great
sound. Is it ever a chore to bal-
ance everything out, like do
you guys ever come up with
something but it sounds “too
much like X”?
